Park Florist gives back to the community of Takoma Park, MD

Jeanne Ha, AIFD, CFD and her husband Dennis Ha had been just so busy to cope with all the changes from March. Their retail florist business, Park Florist, in Takoma Park, Maryland has been running without stopping (literally only two days closed when the Maryland governor, Larry Hogan ordered the closing of the business until clearing the restriction).

With lots of community and customers' support, their retail part of the business thrives as many of the nation's retail floral businesses do since the pandemic, while they lost the entire wedding/special event business and corporate business which consists of a large portion of Park Florist's work.

After the Society of American Florists Summit in August, Jeanne and Dennis had some time to think of what the future would be for their business and what they should do for the community they strongly rooted in. That's how they came up with the idea of doing something to give the community back. Jeanne picked the date and event for the school's startings, as the schools in the area decided to open virtually. They wanted to refresh people's minds so that they can step up and run again with strength to go through this hardship, especially for educators and students.

The entire Park Florist team together built a fresh floral design on the clock tower which is the center of the old Takoma Park town. With the whimsical and colorful fresh flowers, this "flowered clock tower" created lots of buzz in town especially to the crowds for the Sunday farmer's market goers. People came out early to see the team completing the design, brought the kids to take selfies to celebrate the new school year, and sent pictures to friends and family to let them know they are doing great.

DVflora wholesale was a wonderful support and reliable source during this pandemic situation to Park Florist AND even at this extremely difficult time, they decided to sponsor Jeanne's endeavor. They donated all the fresh flowers to Park Florist for this project. It was truly an emotional and appreciative moment, connecting the consumers-retail shop-wholesaler.
